Linga Wings > Revenge Wings

Last night my team from work plus some other coworker finally went out for a well-deserved happy hour of beer and wings.  We went to a bar in Danbury named TK’s.  TK’s is has a pretty extensive menu of wings 37 to be exact.  They have everything from sweet wings to what I would consider very hot wings.  And if you remember from a previous post I had their second hottest wings called Suicide wings and they where hot, so hot they kind of made me want to cry like a little schoolgirl.  And seeing as most of my team is from a Middle Eastern descent they wanted to try these “hot” wings.

So lets fast-forward to the wings.  The Suicide wings came out and my guys poo pooed the hotness of them and wanted something hotter.  So we asked the waitress for ten more wings of the hotter wings, those were called Revenge wings and once again they said Hotter.   The waitress came back with Caribbean wings and this time my guys said that these were just sweet not hot.  Once more we called over the waitress and told her to tell the chef that we my boys needed them to make the hottest wings they ever made…  Out come the meanest, darkest, scariest looking wings I have ever seen.  They were covered with hot TK’s special hot sauce, Tabasco and red chili pepper.  Now these things were hot, not just a little hot I mean when I dipped my pinky finger in the sauce and touched it to my tongue my mouth felt like it was going to just burst into flames.  Some of the people at our table tried one, a few crazies tried two but there were two brave souls Linga and VJ that ate three.  Not taking anything away from VJ’s “accomplishment” of eating three of these wings from hell, he actually was the first to eat three, but after the third wing he looked like he was going to die or just spontaneously combust.  Now pan the virtual camera over to Linga, like a rock, not sweating or whining he was just sitting there kind of gave a shrug of his shoulders and said “these are ok”.

Now I asked the waitress at TK’s to ask the chef if they could in honor of this accomplishment add a 38th wing… the Linga Wing.  We will have to wait and see if the request goes through.

On a more serous note I just want say thank you again to my team Prasanna, Linga, Deepak, Imran and Anil thank you for your hard work and keep up the great job.

Breville Gourmet Single-Cup Coffee Brewer

So yesterday we finally replaced our Flavia Fusion single serving coffee maker.  The Flavia one had a water leak and I was tired of having to order my coffee replacements from only Flavia online.  The coffee was decent but not being able to run to the store to buy the coffee was a bit of a pain.  Also there were only a few varieties.  So after much research and some good deals at Macy’s we decided to pick up the Breville/Kuerig BKC600XL.  One of the main reasons we decided on this machine uses was that it uses the readily available k-cup.  And not only is the k-cup readily available but there are also over 150 different coffees made in the k-cup format.

So last night after I put the kids to bed, I did the initial set up of the machine.  It took about 10 minutes in total 5 of which was spent soaking the charcoal water filter.  After the initial setup was finished I was going to make myself a coffee.  The machine came with a variety pack of 18 different coffees but none of them were decaf and at 10p.m. I was not about to have a cup of coffee that could possibly keep me awake for 4 or 5 more hours.  So I decided to christen the machine with a hot chocolate for my wife (not me since I’m on the diet).  When I made the coco I set the machine for the largest size cup, which diluted the coco, just a bit my wife said.  But she said that it was pretty good and she like hot coco to be sickeningly sweet anyways.

So come this morning I made the first “coffee” in the new machine, a Kona blend coffee at 9.25 oz.  It was pretty good.  The strength of the coffee was pretty good and so was the flavor.  The machine has 4 different cup/strength sizes as well as a temperature setting that can very about 5 degrees.  So I will play with those settings to zero in on the optimal setting for my taste.

Week 5 Weigh in – 246.2 lbs

Week 5 down and I weighed in at 246.2 lbs, 23.2 lbs above my goal for June 20th.  That would be 3.06 lbs per week to meet my 223 lbs.  I think this might be doable.  This weekend, more specifically Saturday, was really tough.  We had two birthdays to go to.  The first was my mother’s birthday and parents anniversary and then my sister in laws birthday afterwards.  At my parents house I ate some salad and one cheeseburger without a bun.  I refrained from having both the Carvel cake and the Cold Stone Creamery ice cream cake.  That took all of my self-restraint.  Then at my sister-in-laws birthday, there was just appetizers.  I was able to pick at some cheese cubes and pepperoni slices, I probably ate too much but I needed to eat something.  Then the desert came out… ouch there was cake, cupcakes and pound bread with icing that my wife made.  And I did not eat anything; I made it though two birthday parties without cheating.

Sunday was not as bad; we ate Chili’s for lunch.  I had a small steak and broccoli with a Cesar salad.  After some shopping we went to Stew Leonard’s Grocery store and I had some samples of some things that I shouldn’t have, but it did not seem to hurt my progress any.  Hopefully by next week I can get down to the low 240’s.  I’m going to be going out with my team at work to have wings on Tuesday.  But besides that I don’t really see any other challenges this coming week.

249lbs redux

Well I hit 249 again,  so its kinda a milestone.  The funny thing is that I actually had a salad with chicken for lunch and a Quiznos salad with roast beef on it for dinner (I did not eat the bread).  Which continues to lead me to believe that one of the reasons that I’m not losing weight as quickly is I’m not getting enough calories.  So, today I will double up on the lunch shake and make sure I eat enough through out the day.  Also, I actually got a chance last night to workout a bit after the kids went to bed, so hopefully that will help too.

Another accomplishment I was able to get into a pair of pants that I was not able to fit into before.  I had bought them without trying them on and they where too small.  I actually bought about 5 pairs of them and all of them where too small.  I thought they would be good motivation to keep as apposed to returning them and getting a bigger size.  Seems to be working.

Week 4 Weigh in – 250.8 lbs

Not much to say about this week in terms of weight loss.  I weighed in this morning at 250.8lbs which is 1lb higher then my lowest this last week.  That’s a 1lb net loss for the week, nowhere near where I wanted to be, but a net loss never the less.  What contributed to only a 1lb loss I believe are the following; not eating enough protein throughout the day, eating too much for dinner, dining out for dinner, not exercising and a cheat meal on Saturday night at Friendly’s (yeah I had a full blown cheat meal with ice cream to boot).

So this week to get under my 250lb hurdle I’m going to try to get to the gym at least twice, eat 150 grams of protein each day and limit my dining out.

Also on the baby front, on Friday we went to the doctors for another ultrasound and it looks like we are having another baby girl.

Ruby Tuesdays = Weight Loss?!?

Well maybe not exactly but it might have helped.  Yesterday I focused on getting enough calories and protein.  I believe that one of the reasons that I have not progressed as quickly as I would have liked to.  I have been stuck at 250lb for about a week with really no “cheating”.   So yesterday I decided that I would be very diligent in “eating” all my 150 grams of protein.  I had a shake about every 2 waking hours and at dinner since the paint in the kitchen was still drying we went out to eat at Ruby Tuesdays.  I got a 9 oz steak with as salad and steamed broccoli and low and behold this morning when I got on the scale I broke the 250lbs mark, it read 249lbs. Yah me!!!

Just Liquid

Wow, I made it through the day yesterday with only “eating” shakes.  Hopefully that would help reinvigorate the weight loss.  I’m not sure if I’m going to only do shakes today as I was pretty cranky towards the end of the day (sorry hun) and I still did not get all the protein I was supposed to.  I think I’m going to have to double up on some of my meals to hit 150 grams of protein.  Also I’m probably going to have my oatmeal, protein bar and a “normal” dinner, just to keep me sane.  We will see.

Food eaten yesterday:

  • 7:30 am – MWLC Shake
  • 9:30 am- MWLC Shake
  • 12:00 pm – MWLC Shake
  • 1:30 pm – MWLC Shake
  • 3:30 pm – MWLC Shake
  • 5:30 pm- MWLC Shake
  • 8:00pm – MWLC Shake

Too Much, Too Little

Yesterday I came to some conclusions.  First one, with a little help from my wife, was that my post yesterday was too long.  That one is an easy fix.  The second is that I’m not eating enough.  The fact that I’m not eating enough on a diet is just hilarious to me, but its most likely the reason that my weigh loss has been slow.  On this diet I need at least 150 grams of protein and I have only been getting about 100 grams.  Only getting 100 grams of protein also means I’m not getting enough calories and my body is going into a starvation mode.  And starvation mode = no weight loss.

So, what I’m going to do is first keep the posts shorter. And second I’m going to eat (have a shake) every 2 hours.  I’m not going to be eating any solid food today because between the oatmeal and the bar I think that I’m getting too many carbohydrates and at dinner I think that I’m having too many calories.

As for food eaten yesterday:

  • 7:30am – MWLC Protein Shake
  • 8:30am – V8
  • 10:00am – MWLC Protein Oatmeal Packet
  • 12:00pm – MWLC Protein Shake
  • 2:30pm – MWLC Protein Shake
  • 5:00pm- MWLC Protein Bar
  • 6:30pm – Sirloin tips and a small salad
  • 8:00pm – 2 Sugar Free Jell-Os

Yummy frozen pickle juice?!?!

Saw these Pickle Sickles on the news last night and this morning.  I might have to try it if I can get my hands on some.  Pickles tend to be a great snack on a low carb or calorie diet as they are low in mostly everything but taste.
